How to Install Polk Audio SDA Series Crossover Modifications
Below you will find the general steps to installing our Polk SDA series modifications.
In general, the stereo driver wiring will be red (+)/black (-) and the SDA drivier wiring will be blue (+)/white (-). There are instances particualrly on the larger models where this will alternate and in these circumstances a label with in place. This however does not change which is positive or negative. Red/Blue is always positive and black/white is always negative.
Step 1
After you have carefully unboxed everything, you will find an adhesive backed gasket tape. This tape goes on the back side of the terminal plate included in your crossover set.
I would recommend resealing the enclosures before installing any components and this would also be a good stage to install any black hole 5, hurricane nuts, etc.
Step 2
Next step is to insert all of the wiring thru the opening and then install the terminal plate securely to the enclosure. It is recommended to change the mounting hardware over to 8-32 hurricane nuts/bolts or you can also install "Larrys Rings" if still available.

Next step will be to place all of the wiring in its appropriate slot. (RIght speaker, SDA drivers on right, stereo on left and vice versa) It helps on larger models to unfold the wiring on to the floor before inserting into the enclosure so you can see what goes where. Everything is zip tied and cut to fit in specific areas. This is is also the stage to install the SDA inductor. I recommend installing the SDA inductor in the mid point near the terminal cup as it is away from the crossover and drivers. Please note when mounting our substrates it is required to use 2 spacers on bottom, 1 on top to maintain your warranty.

Next step is to reinstall the factory insulation in the upper part of the enclosure behind the midrange drivers. You wan tto keep all filling away from the passive radiator. This would also be a good stage to install any black hole 5, hurricane nuts, etc.

Next step is to reinstall of the drivers. If the factory seals are not torn and are in good condition then they are ok to reinstall. If they are not in good conditon or missing, you will want to replace these seals before installation

Next step is to place and install the crossover. I recommend placing the crossover to where the internal wiring is not tight but has a little of slack. This can be the back or bottom of the enclosure usually. You will want to use one spacer on top and two on bottom per mounting hole. Plug in the connector and reinstall the passive radiator.
